Charleston, W.Va. - Secretary of State Natalie E. Tennant issued the following statement today in response to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) posting of feedback
from an 11-city ‘listening tour’ on new carbon regulations.
The EPA’s tour does not include West Virginia. Sec. Tennant urged EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy to visit West Virginia
after an August 2013 meeting.
“Conducting a listening tour on coal that doesn’t include West Virginia is ridiculous,” Secretary Tennant said. “You simply cannot have an honest conversation about the impacts of new carbon regulation without talking to the people of West Virginia, whose lives and jobs will be directly impacted.”
