Charleston, W.Va. -- It's no secret that there is an intense rivalry between Marshall University and West Virginia University. The fans cheer louder and harder during games between the Herd and Mountaineers than just about any other game on the schedule.
But for a few minutes Wednesday, Marshall's Marco and a former West Virginia Mountaineer mascot put the rivalry aside.
Marco visited the office of Secretary of State Natalie E. Tennant, who served as the first female WVU Mountaineer mascot in 1990.
Tennant still keeps her musket (which no longer can fire for safety reasons) above her desk in her office at the Capitol.
It was Marshall Day at the State Capitol, and the John Marshall Fife and Drum Corps performed in the Senate Chambers.
