 West Virginia Counties Announce Early Voting Times And Dates; Voter Registration Deadline Is October 12

    Charleston, W.Va. – Election Day is November 2, but in person early voting begins in West Virginia on October 13. Citizens can cast their ballot at the county courthouse, or in some counties at satellite precincts, until October 30. 

    Since in person early voting began in 2002, it has continually grown in popularity. In the 2008 general election, more than 153,000 people voted early – or about 13 percent of the total votes cast in that election. In the 2010 primary election, about 40,000 people voted early – or about 14 percent of the total votes cast.

    The deadline to register to vote in the November general election is October 12. To register to vote citizens can visit the Secretary of State’s Office in Charleston, several state agencies such as the DMV, their county clerk’s office, or download the mail-in registration form.
