Flatwoods, W.Va. - Dozens of election officials from 37 counties are in Flatwoods for the next several days, making sure they have all the information they need to properly maintain voter registration lists.
The training on the Statewide Voter Registration System (SVRS) was sponsored by the West Virginia Secretary of State's Office.
The intensive three day training session is for election officials who work daily with SVRS and are directly responsible for maintaining voter registration lists. All aspects of the SVRS were to be discussed.
"What this training is all about is that it is the behind the scenes, nuts and bolts of an election that people usually never get to see," said Secretary of State Natalie E. Tennant. "Training sessions like this really build the foundation for our democracy to ensure that we have honest and fair elections that the people of West Virginia deserve."
The training at Flatwoods ends Wednesday. The first day of Early Voting in West Virginia is October 24. Election Day is November 6.
