Charleston, W.Va. – West Virginia Secretary of State Natalie E. Tennant, the state’s chief elections officer, certified the list of write-in candidates today for the upcoming special gubernatorial election.
Only certified write-in candidates that have completed the necessary paperwork with the Secretary of State’s Office can receive votes during the special election. The deadline to file that paperwork was Tuesday, August 23.
The certified write-in candidates for the October 4, 2011 special election are:
- John R. “Rick” Bartlett of Kingwood;
- Phil Hudok of Huttonsville;
- Donald Lee Underwood of Buffalo.
The deadline to register to vote in the special gubernatorial general election is September 13.
Early voting for the 2011 special gubernatorial general election begins on September 21. Voters can cast their ballot early at their courthouse or courthouse annex during regular business hours.
Early voting will also be available on Saturday, September 24 and October 1. October 1 is also the final day of early voting.
Voting will be available at precincts around the state on October 4, 2011 from 6:30 AM to 7:30 PM.
