Charleston, W.Va. – Secretary of State Natalie E. Tennant is warning voters to be wary of phone calls they may receive notifying them of changes to where they will cast a ballot on Election Day.
The Secretary of State’s Office has received several reports of voters receiving phone calls with various types of official sounding information, such as a precinct that has moved or a precinct that is closed.
Before relying on any information received by phone, a voter should check with their county clerk or the Secretary of State to confirm the information.
Secretary Tennant said it would be very unusual for any county clerk to be contacting a voter by phone the day of an election with any official information.
