All 55 West Virginia Counties Declare Election Results; 48-Hour Window To Request Recount Begins

Charleston, W.Va. – All 55 West Virginia counties have declared their results in the 2011 Special Gubernatorial Election.
County Commissions met as Boards of Canvassers beginning on October 11, with the final county declaring their results at 3:05 PM on October 12.
According to state code, a candidate in the special election has until 3:05 PM on October 14 to request a recount of any precinct in West Virginia, providing that the candidate posts the required bond amount to pay for the requested recount.
If no recount is requested within 48 hours each County Commission will certify the election results and transmit them to the Secretary of State’s Office. Secretary of State Natalie E. Tennant will then deliver the certificates to legislators during a special session of the State Legislature.
The election results will be available on the Secretary of State’s website at www.wvsos.com.
