Charleston, W.Va. – The West Virginia Secretary of State’s Office will be open on West Virginia Day to help business owners file their annual reports before the June 30 deadline.
State code requires corporations, limited partnerships, limited liability companies, voluntary associations, and business trusts to file an annual report with the Secretary of State’s Office. Annual reports contain information such as officer names, a business’s address, and a service of process address. No financial information is contained in an annual report.
“To people in West Virginia, June 20 is a day to reflect on our state’s history and to celebrate our heritage,” Secretary of State Natalie E. Tennant said. “But it’s also a day that’s close to the filing deadline for businesses. We are helping business owners by staying open and being available to help them. It’s important that business owners don’t miss an opportunity to file this very important paperwork, and we will be here to help them do that.”
The Secretary of State’s Office will also be open until 7:00 PM on Friday, June 29 to assist last-second filers.
Secretary Tennant pointed out that business owners can file up until midnight on June 30 through the online portal www.business4wv.com. Business owners can save time by using the website and will be sent an email notification once the Secretary of State’s Office accepts the filing.
There is an online tutorial video that will help guide business owners through the filing process. Business owners can also go to the Secretary of State’s website at www.wvsos.com and log on to a live interactive chat session with a Business and Licensing specialist. That online chat feature is available weekdays from 9:00AM to 11:00AM and 2:00PM to 4:00PM.
