Fairmont, W.Va. – Dozens of business owners in North Central West Virginia were able to file some important paperwork Thursday, as the Secretary of State’s Office set up a mobile office for the first time.
Business owners were able to file their annual reports at the ‘SOS On The Road’ mobile office, with the help of Missy Anthony and Cindy Holdren of the Business and Licensing Division and Samantha Holvey and Richard Gillespie from the Outreach Staff of the Secretary of State’s Office.
The deadline to file an annual report is June 30, and business owners were encouraged to file their reports quickly and easily online using the website www.business4wv.com
Secretary of State staff were ready to answer any questions a business owner may have about filing online. ‘On The Road’ was set up in the Marion County Courthouse, a central location in North Central West Virginia where business owners from neighboring counties could come file their reports.
According to the Secretary of State’s online database about 30,000 businesses have not yet filed their annual reports – including more than 2,000 in Harrison, Marion, and Monongalia Counties.
“We are bringing our services to the people of North Central West Virginia,” said Samantha Holvey, Outreach Specialist with the Secretary of State’s Office. “It’s really important for people to come out and take advantage of this face to face contact and be able to sit down with the knowledgeable staff from our Business and Licensing Division. We will be able to answer questions in person and sit down with business owners and show them how to file online. Nothing is better than that one-on-one contact.”
Secretary of State Natalie E. Tennant has said she hopes to send her office On The Road to the northern panhandle to help business owners there, as well as the eastern panhandle and the southern part of the state.
