Secretary of State's Office Will Be 'On The Road' Today In Fairmont

Charleston, W.Va. – The West Virginia Secretary of State’s Office will be ‘On The Road’ Thursday in Marion County offering people the same services they receive at the main State Capitol office.

The ‘On The Road’ mobile office will be set up at the Marion County Courthouse in Fairmont on Thursday, June 17 from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.

The focus will be on helping business owners file their annual reports before the end of the month deadline. Business owners or a person with signature authority for the organization can file the annual report at the mobile office. Sole proprietorships do not file annual reports with the Secretary of State’s Office.

Staff from the Secretary of State’s Office will also be able to help people file their annual reports quickly and easily online using www.business4wv.com

Business owners will still have to pay the filing fee but the report will instantly be entered into the Secretary of State’s database. The business owner will receive an email when the Secretary of State’s Office approves the filing.

According to the Secretary of State database, about 30,000 businesses still have to file their annual reports, with about 2,500 of those located in Harrison, Marion, and Monongalia County.

Failure to file an annual report will result in late penalties and could result in an organization being administratively dissolved. In order to do business again in West Virginia, the organization would have to go through a reinstatement process.
Secretary of State Natalie Tennant said this is the first mobile office of her administration and she hopes to send her office ‘On The Road’ to the northern and eastern panhandles and to southern West Virginia.
