Charleston, W.Va. – The Business and Licensing online help chat offered on the West Virginia Secretary of State’s website is so popular it is now being offered from 8:30AM to 4:30PM every business day, Secretary of State Natalie E. Tennant said today. The change will take effect on Monday, February 4.
Previously, the online help chat was only offered for two hours in the morning and two hours in the afternoon.
The online help chat feature was recently named one of four national finalists for the National Association of Secretaries of State (NASS) Innovation, Dedication, Excellence, and Achievement in Service (IDEAS) Award.
More than 3,000 people took advantage of the online help chat feature in 2012, connecting directly to a Business and Licensing Specialist in the Secretary of State’s Office to get information ranging from how to start a business to help filing their annual report.
“The response to this online help chat has been just as impressive as the response to online annual report filing,” Secretary Tennant said. “We are making it easier for business owners to get their questions answered quickly so they can get back to what really matters. Business owners don’t want to be put on hold or buried in paperwork and red tape and we here in the Secretary of State’s Office don’t want them to, either. They can focus on running their business and keeping our economy strong.”
Another business friendly service, online annual report filing, just had its strongest January ever. 8,920 annual reports were filed online in January, up from 8,347 in the same month last year.
The online help chat can be accessed by visiting the Business and Licensing Division section of the Secretary of State's website.
