 Voter Information FAQ 

Voting in West Virginia State, County and Municipal Elections 

  • Getting the "who, what, where, when and how" questions of voting and elections can be very time consuming. Let's try to make that process simple!
  • The first thing you should do is check to see if you meet the requirements for voting in West Virginia. Please review our Voter Registration FAQ to determine your eligibility.

For whom am I voting? 

When can I vote?

  • The 2012 Primary Election for Governor will be held on May 8, 2012.  
  • The 2012 General Election will be held on November 6, 2012.
  • Polls are open statewide from 6:30 a.m.-7:30 p.m..
  • Each polling place equipped with at least one ADA-approved Voting Machine for hearing impaired voters. Find out more information at voters with disabilities.
  • If you will be out of town on Election Day, find out more about Absentee Voting.
  • Your county also offers Early Voting. Check with your County Clerk to find out the hours and location(s) for Early Voting.
  • Find county special election dates by contacting your County Clerk.

Where do I vote? 

  • Once registered, you will be assigned a polling place based upon the address which you used to register.
  • Early Voting is available in every county.  Check with your County Clerk for hours and locations.
