Welcome to our history and resource area. Here you will find detailed information on voter registration totals, historical election data, the election complaint process, the list of contact for political parties, and the voter hall of fame. Please follow the links to find out more information for each topic. If your questions cannot be answered here, please contact our office.
Early-Absentee Voting Totals

All combined early and absentee voting numbers are visualized through a graphical map, can be broken down by county, and are subdivided by party.  You can bring up previous early-absentee voting numbers according to a specific day by selecting a date from the dropdown menu.

Historical Election Returns

This area contains historical data returns for elections for federal and statewide offices in West Virginia.  The more recent years contain information in an online database, while all other years host PDF files, which are downloadable.
Note:  This section is currently being updated, and some files may be missing.

Voter Registration Totals
This area contains periodic voter registration totals, listed by their respective counties.  This data is visualized through a graphical map, can be broken down by county, are subdivided by party.  
Data: Voter Turnout Overview

This is a list of historical voter turnout rates for each election cycle, including data for early voting, total turnout, popoluation totals, and calculated percentages. 

Data: Voter Turnout by Age

This is a list of historical voter turnout rates by age for each election cycle, including data for age ranges 18-24, 25-40, 41-55, 56+, and calculated percentages.  

Data: Voter Turnout by Gender

This is a list of historical voter turnout rates by gender for each election cycle, including data for male, female, not specified, and calculated percentages.  

Data: Voter Turnout by Party

This is a list of historical voter turnout rates by party affiliation for each election cycle, including data for each of the major political parties in West Virginia (Democrat, Republican, Mountain), no party affiliated voters, and voters that are member of minor political parties.

Voter Hall of Fame
West Virginia residents who have voted consecutively in the past 50 general elections are listed here in the voter hall of fame.  This page also includes a WV voter hall of fame downloadable application PDF.  For those who believe that they are eligible for the hall of fame, then please fill out the PDF and return the completed form to the WV Secretary of State's Office.
